Update Feb '10
in

As you may know, this site had a setback the other day and some recent postings (along with your comments to them) have been lost. However, since I often repeat my postings here and on my main site, the missing posts can still be viewed at MBP.com. My thanks to Jason for saving the (website) day as always.

In other news, I've been slowly chipping away at the U&F block. I'm getting an average 2 thousand words a day done, which isn't much compared to someone like Scott Sigler, but is a hell of a lot more than I was doing a month ago when I was employed. I've now written the first drafts of the first four episodes (possibly five or six because the episodes are massive and may need to be edited into two here and there) and I can confidently say that I like them very much.

Meanwhile, some new art has been posted in the gallery at MBP by Paul Warren, KS Claw and Jon Cape. Below is Jon's vision of the road incident in Episode 1 of U&F.

My thanks to all the artists for their hard work and for sharing it with us Laughing

Lastly, I now have a release month for the paperback anthology that my story, "Salvation" is to appear in. The book will be released by Dragon Moon Press in April - same as (hopefully) the recommencement of U&F Part 2.  The anthology will also feature stories by Scott Sigler, Phil Rossi and Emerian Rich to name a few. It doesn't have a confirmed title yet, but when it does, I'll let you know Laughing

Sequel

Mike's picture

Hi Holly

You understand correctly, there is to be a continuation of U&F - I'm writing it at the moment and I hope to begin the podcast in April (though that may be wishful thinking). However, it's not so much a sequel as it is the second-half of the book. I was looking at the text files the other day and it's looking like U&F will ultimately be about the size of The Stand by Stephen King ... which is nice  Laughing

Stopped By

Stopped by to see if there were any news and was not disapointed! Glad to hear that the 2nd part is coming along. And you'll have to forgive me but... I just have to ask; how much longer untill we get to hear it. All the best Mike!

Hard to say ...

Hi Paco

It's hard to say how long it is going to be until the podcast begins. I've done the first draft of about 5 episodes, but there's about twenty that need to be written. It just takes a long time to write decent stuff: bad writing is easily done, good stuff takes time.

I hope to be somewhere near the end of the first draft by the beginning of April. I then hope to do a full second draft by the end of April, begining of May, and then I'll begin the podcasting. The third re-write will be the one I do as I record the episodes.

It's a matter of knowing exactly what happens - what is done, what is said, etc, and of knowing who does it to whom and what the repercussions are. The first draft is like drawing a map; the second draft is the colouring in of the map; the third is adding the small details. Fourth and fifth versions also happen on different areas that are troublesome - some parts of U&F Pt 1 had innumerable re-writes, but the important thing is not starting until the first draft is done - you wouldn't want to set off on a journey into the unknown with only half a map, now would you? Laughing

No... I Would Not

"...set off on a journey into the unknown with only half a map,..." Hey, that's one of the first leassons learned at Arkham's Miskatonc U! So I'll tightly strap those questions unto the disecting table and periodically muffle their screams with "Sometimes...," until May may arrive with new slew of fright. ¡Gracias Mike!
